Stephen Davis

Stephen Davis was born in Searcy, Arkansas, where he attended Harding University as an art major.  His father, Dr. Kenneth Davis, Jr., chaired the music department at Harding University.  A formidable figure at the university because of the integrity that he was known for and his outstanding achievements in acapella choral direction, he brought far-reaching awareness of the university through world-wide university sponsored travels.  He has been posthumously honored with a statue on campus grounds.  He also led a family strong in the fine arts, with two of Davis’s brothers being accomplished artists, and his daughter and son being accomplished musicians as well.

After college, Stephen followed his own love of music and pursued a career in blues and folk in Memphis and Houston.  While evenings were spent performing, by day he worked in lumber and hardware, and as a roofer and carpenter.  That experience in building materials and home construction would later prove invaluable.

In 1981 Davis moved to Northwest Arkansas and worked for two civil engineering firms and a manufacturer of extruded aluminum curtain walls before finding his true calling in home design with Cooper Communities in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

In 1990, Davis moved to the Knoxville area and founded Stephen Davis Home Designs. His work has infiltrated Knoxville’s affluent neighborhoods because of his technical knowledge of construction and his innate creativity in executing detail.
